Penn is regarded as having one of the most diverse and vibrant student bodies around the US. While efforts have been made in the past to engage many of the different communities at Penn, we believe that one area where dialogue has been lacking is in the exchange of ideas between international and US born students, both of whom offer unique and very interesting perspectives on several issues including education, cultural norms, community, and other topics of global interest. The Assembly of International Students is organizing a discussion forum to help foster greater exchange between international and domestic students and to frame the issues that affect all of us at large, but on which we may have different points of view. We hope that this will present all of us with the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of having one of the most diverse undergraduate populations in the country.

The first meeting of this forum will take place on February 18 at 5pm in the Golkin Room, Houston Hall and the topic for discussion will be “Socio-economic Diversity at Penn: Domestic and International Perspectives”.

We hope to convene at least once a month and the topics for future forums will be decided based on the views of the groups taking part. We hope that many of you will join us in this first-of-a-kind venture!
