News from Steering
2010 AIS Executive Board

Hello everyone,

It is my pleasure to announce the Assembly of International Students’ new Executive Board! Please join me in welcoming:

President: Carol Costa (costac@sas.upenn.edu)
Executive Vice-President: Florentina Dragulescu (fdrag@sas.upenn.edu)
Vice-President of External Affairs: Gandharv Bedi (gandharv@wharton.upenn.edu)
Treasurer: Chloe Ho (chloeho@sas.upenn.edu)
Secretary: Cynthia Ip (cynip@sas.upenn.edu)

This marks the end of an incredibly fruitful and successful year for the Assembly of International Students. In just one year we passed a UA resolution on International Student Housing, launched the second round of the International Mentor Program, ran International Student Orientation social events, held a seat on the University Council, started a Spring Fling BBQ tradition, and thrown multiple and successful parties both on-campus and downtown, to name a few successes in this past year. We have truly made great leaps and bounds to benefit the international student community and none of that would have been possible without the help and support of all of AIS members and Steering Committee members. I am confident that this new board will take AIS to new heights in the coming year and am excited to see what’s in store for AIS!

It has been an absolute pleasure serving you all this past year as President and AIS, no matter what, will continue to be a huge part of my life at Penn. Please join me in thanking the outgoing board and welcoming the new board of AIS!

Best,

Trixie Canivel
Outgoing President
Assembly of International Students

We Want YOU At AIS Elections this FRIDAY (Dec. 4)!

Hey AIS!

It’s election time again! I can’t believe a year has flown by so fast. From ISO scavenger hunts and tours to Mykonos at G-Lounge, from community service trips to the Spring Fling BBQ, from getting a resolution passed through the UA to committee BYO dinners downtown, AIS has truly achieved so much this year. But now it’s time for elections, and by coming out to vote, YOU will have a say in the events we plan, the administration we meet and the things that we do.

Have your say in AIS by attending elections THIS FRIDAY, December 4th at 5:30 pm at Huntsman Hall Room 255.

Whether you loved what we did or hated what we did, this is your chance to run for a position and help steer the direction of the AIS. Everyone is eligible to run. Basically, if you want to get involved or if you think out of the box or if you THINK BIG or if you have anything exciting and new to bring to the table, then AIS WANTS YOU. If running for a position is not for you, then come out and vote for the person that you think will take AIS to where it needs to go next year! Do all of this while hanging out with your AIS friends and eating FREE FOOD.

Remember, the positions that are available are: President, Executive VP, VP External, Treasurer and Secretary. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at president@aisupenn.org! I’ll be more than happy to chat with you about AIS, elections, new ideas or anything in general! I’ll see you at elections!

Cheers,

Trixie Canivel

It’s never too late to get invovled!
