Committees

Advocacy

The Advocacy Committee aims to enrich the experience of international students at Penn by lobbying to the administration and initiating projects that 1) react to concerns expressed by the international community and 2) proactively enhance student life. In the long run, this committee also seeks to increase the availability of financial aid and strengthen the connections between Penn and high schools around the world, ultimately making Penn a truly viable option for the brightest minds, regardless of their background.

This semester, our main projects are the Student Ambassador Program (SAP) and the Yield Project. To get involved, contact Nana Adwoa Sey (nasey@sas.upenn.edu) or Barbora Podzimkova (barbora@wharton.upenn.edu)

International Mentor Program

The International Mentor Program (IMP) committee organizes and facilitates relationships between incoming international freshmen and international upperclassmen from the same country/region. The program assigns each incoming freshman a mentor (international upperclassman) over the summer to whom he/she can direct any questions/concerns about logistics, culture shock and all-round student life. Mentors are required to email their mentees over the summer, meet their mentees here at Penn during the first few weeks of school and attend an AIS social event together.

This semester (Spring) we are in the process of training mentors. Soon, we will be assigning early decision admits their mentors, so ED students, look out for that.To get involved or if you have questions/concerns, contact Jannelyn Ocampo-Tan (jannelyn23@gmail.com) or internationalmentorprogram@gmail.com
