Social and Community Engagement is a committee that organizes fun, social events with the intention of integrating the international community at Penn with the American culture/community. We are open and always looking for new ideas, be it a social event or a community service event. The purpose is to have international students to have fun, to learn about the American culture/community and to give back with some of our experiences. Our events are open to all international students at Penn.

Phillies gameCollaboration with United Service Consulting (U-Serv) and Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) Community Service Project
This semester we have been working closely with U-Serv and were able to start a collaboration with them and the KIPP project at the West Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School. To learn more visit: http://www.kippwestphilacs.org/.
We had our introductory visit to the school on March 20th and attended some of their Saturday school classes – equivalent of after school activities. We aim to contribute to this project by planning and creating new classes that teach them about College and International matters, as well as helping with current ongoing classes. Our next step is to have an International Night at the school where we introduce them to some fun games, and bring international dishes for a pot luck dinner with them. Next semester, some of the things we would like to do include having a Model United Nations for the children, teaching them how to cook international dishes, playing international sports with them, etc.
