Transportation in Philadelphia

Penn has its own buses and shuttles (Penn Transit) which run through campus as well as into West Philly and parts of Center City. To call a shuttle if you need to get picked from somewhere, use the number 215-898-RIDE (215-898-7433).

Philadelphia’s transport system is SEPTA and consists of buses, trolleys, and the subway. SEPTA tokens and passes, necessary for traveling with SEPTA, can be purchased at the Fresh Grocer, as well as the CVS on 34th and Walnut. In addition to this, you can purchase tokens from the Information Center in your college house.

The Megabus and Boltbus are the cheapest options for out-of-city travel. NJ Transit and Amtrak are train services for out-of-city travel and can provide a faster, albeit more expensive, travel option. Philadelphia also has an international airport.
