Executive Board

President: Angel Garcia De la Garza (


Angel Garcia de la Garza is a senior in the College majoring in Mathematics. Half Mexican and Spanish, he was born and raised in Mexico City. During his free time, you can find Angel eating sushi, watching Scandal, and always trying to find a new song to obsess over. Angel was the chair of the International Mentorship and Orientation Committee during 2013 and he could not be more excited to come back as President. Along with the Assembly of International Students, Angel is involved in Mex@Penn, IAA, and PHINS. He can’t wait to welcome all the incoming international students to campus and he hopes to make your transition to American College extremely effortless and memorable. Internal Vice President: Julia Shin (


Julia is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Originally born in Korea, she was raised in all continents but Africa. As VP Internal, Julia hopes to encourage collaborations on cultural initiatives that unite the international community and create a home away from home here at Penn. Her interests include food, traveling, and dancing (latin dancing – yeah salsa and bachata!). External Vice President: Alexandre Kleis (


Alex is a junior enrolled in a dual-degree program between the Wharton School and the Engineering School. He is looking forward to many collaborations with organizations across campus, and hopes to work closely with school administrators in order to further the presence and the involvement of the international community at Penn. Alex was born in France, and later got to move to London and then to Switzerland, where he attended an international school until graduation. Alex is eager to work on improving the experience of international students at Penn, and feel free to email him with questions and/or suggestions!


Treasurer: Amanda Acosta (


Amanda is a senior in the College of Arts & Sciences studying Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology, as well as a minor in Statistics. She’s looking forward to a career doing research in the biological sciences. Hailing from Puerto Rico, Amanda is known for being loud and friendly. She’s very interested in the arts, particularly photography and writing. She’s looking forward to encouraging the committee chairs to host fundraising events in order to more easily subsidize our events.

Anny is a sophomore in the College who wants to study biology and healthcare management. She was born in China, raised in Canada and Australia, but has spent all her high school years in Shanghai American School. Anny is a go-hard foodie, loves to travel, and enjoys jamming with her friends even though it might not always be acoustically pleasing. She also loves meeting people from all different parts of the world and hopes to bring them all closer together on the Penn campus. Hit her up for a coffee or food chat anytime!


Marketing Director: Elise Pi (

Elise is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing a major in Mathematical Economics and a minor in Consumer Psychology. Though originally from Cupertino, California, she has spent over half her life living in Shanghai, China and attending international schools, which is why she feels so at home with the international community here at Penn. As Marketing Director, Elise hopes that she’ll be able to properly present the AIS as the wonderful and all-inclusive community that it is. Outside of the AIS, Elise designs for Stamped (Penn’s travel magazine), is an active member of the IAA, and dreams about speaking all the major languages in the world (alas, ‘dreams’). Advocacy and Academic Initiatives Committee Chair: Fabiola Diaz (


Fabiola is a Senior in the College majoring in Health and Societies with a concentration in Health Policy and Law, and possibly minoring in History and Legal Studies. She’s from Puerto Rico, and enjoys watching tv series, taking naps, and instagramming selfies. Being the current Chair of the Advocacy and Academic Initiatives committee, she is really excited about working to raise awareness of the international community here at Penn, while outreaching to communities around the world through our SAP program.


Alumni and Employment Committee Chair: Chikezie Wood (


Chikezie is a junior in the College studying Biochemistry and minoring in Systems Engineering in the School of Engineering. He is from the sunny, twin-island republic of Trinidad & Tobago where everything is on island time and the living is easy. When he is not trying to keep up with his major, he enjoys cooking, going out to eat, travelling and photography. He also loves helping people, so if you want to get involved with A&E, please let him know!


International Mentorship and Orientation Co-Chair: Jenny Hu (


Jenny is a Junior in the Wharton School studying Finance and OPIM. She was born in Shanghai, China and moved to Vancouver, BC when she was 10. She has been involved in AIS since her freshman fall semester. Her other major involvements besides AIS include the Student Federal Credit Union, Phi Gamma Nu Business Fraternity and PHINS. She hopes to plan an awesome ISO for the Class of 2018 freshmen and would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions!

International Mentorship and Orientation Co-Chair: Nicolette Sun (


Nicolette is one of the co-chairs of the International Mentorship and Orientation committee. She’s a junior in the College studying PPE. She was born to a Hungarian mother and a Chinese father in The Netherlands, so she inherently loves food. She’ll go with you on food trips any time! Besides eating, cooking and baking food, she loves photography, yoga, reading and figure skating. Say hi to her; she loves meeting new people!


Social and Community Engagement Committee Chair: Omkar Vichare (


Omkar is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Mathematics with minors in Statistics and Computer Science. He is fascinated with different cultures and loves to learn new languages. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, Dota, listening to classical music, eating fancy food and learning about theoretical physics.

Carmen from Madrid is a film and music lover who enjoys meeting new people, dancing, and drinking coffee!


Ivy League International Networking Conference Chair: Vidya Daryanani (

Vidya Daryanani

Vidya is a sophomore hailing from the world’s greatest city, Lima, Peru. She is studying Economics and International Relations, with a minor in Consumer Psychology. Vidya is incredibly excited to serve as ILINC Chair for this year’s conference, and is really looking forward to meeting all of the participants, getting to hear everyone’s points of view, and making this the best ILINC yet. Outside of ILINC, Vidya loves getting involved in initiatives on global affairs, eating spicy food, and watching guilty pleasure shows like House of Cards or Scandal. Vidya hopes everyone is really excited for ILINC and can’t wait to meet you all!
