Dhruv is a junior in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences majoring in Computer Science. Originally from India, Dhruv attended high school in Nairobi, Kenya and has traveled to over 50 cities in 18 countries spanning 5 continents. He loves to meet new people and understand new cultures! Outside of AIS, Dhruv is also a member of the PennApps organizing committee, the Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club and the TEDxPenn team. When not running around doing AIS stuff, Dhruv can be found either binge watching a show on Netflix, building the next big mobile app or taking photographs around campus.
Alex is a sophomore in the College majoring in International Relations and minoring in Economics. He hails from tropical Singapore and has two great loves in life: bustling cities and cold weather. On campus, he is involved with his fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, and does research work for the Political Science department. When he’s not busy doing Dhruv’s bidding, you can usually spot Alex napping in odd places, or searching for outdoor Christmas markets regardless of the time of year.
Caroline is a sophomore in Wharton concentrating in Finance and Business Analytics. She is half Malaysian and half Swiss, and has lived in countries like France, Holland, England and Malaysia. At Penn, Caroline is also part of the Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club and the French Society. Her interests include traveling and museum hopping, but more importantly, she is a foodie. Hit her up for restaurant recommendations, she’s been to 99.9% of the restaurants in Center City! When not eating, she can be found camping out in the Huntsman Forum hard at work and praying to the gods of Finance for good grades.
Neeraj is a sophomore in Wharton studying business and economics. Although he was born in Chennai, India, Neeraj spent most of his childhood in Bahrain, and went to high school in Qatar and Singapore. Outside of AIS, Neeraj is involved in Penn Microfinance. He also enjoys playing tennis and exploring the city. In love with dosa, Neeraj will be eternally in debt to anyone who can find him a good South Indian restaurant in Philly.
Akmaral, commonly known as Aqua, is a freshman in the College majoring in Mathematical Economics or Mathematics. Originally born in Mongolia in an ethnically ambiguous household, she has lived in several different countries, and finished high school in Norway. On campus, Akmaral is also involved in Doctors Without Borders and the Penn Actuarial Society. Besides watching movies and travelling, Akmaral enjoys skiing and finding small cafes to capture a sense of “hygge”, a Danish word to describe coziness in the small things in life.
Gino is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, minoring in Fine Arts and Psychology. He is an island boy from the Philippines who enjoys photography, food, music, and boxing. Aside from the Assembly of International Students, Gino is involved with Penn Philippine Association and Penn Boxing. He is passionate about human rights, grilled squid, black and white photography, acoustic music, and Top Chef.
Tammy is a freshman in Wharton, studying “Finance and something” with a minor in Biology. She was born and raised in Sydney, Australia - yes, we have kangaroos; no, we don’t ride them to school - and loves good food, coffee and shopping. At Penn, Tammy is involved in Smart Woman Securities, Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club, and research.
Eva is a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences, planning to major in International Relations. Born and raised in Beijing, she attended high school in Connecticut. Outside of AIS, Eva is involved in International Affairs Association, Penn Society for International Development, and Wharton China Association. Besides traveling and exploring different cultures, Eva loves horseback riding, checking out art galleries, trying new restaurants with friends, and pretending she can cook.
Diane is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in International Relations and Economics. She was born in Seoul, Korea, but has lived in Tokyo, Japan since the age of four. Outside of AIS, Diane is involved in Penn for Liberty in North Korea, Global Impact Collaborative, and University Honor Council. When she’s not stuck in Van Pelt studying for some midterm, she enjoys binge-watching shows on Netflix (usually Gilmore Girls) and exploring good brunch spots in Philly with her friends.
Joe is a sophomore in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Mathematics and Engineering Entrepreneurship. Originally from Shenzhen, China, he has lived in many continents growing up and went to high school in Doha, Qatar. Outside of AIS, Joe is actively involved with professional development clubs in both Engineering and Wharton, as well as greek life and tutoring/TA-ing . He has a wide variety of interests ranging from jazz music to health and fitness. Definitely hit him up if you want to do anything new, whether it is trying a new restaurant, exploring philly, or starting a cool project!
