Alexandre is a senior pursuing a dual-degree between the Wharton School and the Engineering School. Growing up in France, in the United Kingdom, and in Switzerland has given him a passion for traveling around the world and he loves meeting new people from diverse backgrounds! Alexandre has been actively involved with the Assembly of International Students since his freshman year, and through his presidency, he hopes to strengthen the presence of AIS within the entire international student community at Penn. He is looking forward to strong collaborations with student groups and administrators as well as putting on an exciting welcome during ISO for the newly-accepted Class of 2019! Elise is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing a major in Mathematical Economics. Though originally from Cupertino, California, she has spent over half her life attending international schools in Shanghai and a semester studying abroad in Milan, which is why she feels so at home with the international community here at Penn. As Executive Vice President, Elise hopes to promote international students’ interests on campus and is excited to welcome everyone to this big family. She loves logic games, international affairs, bubble tea, and Google products, and dreams about speaking all the major languages in the world (alas, ‘dreams’). Anny is a junior studying Computational Biology in the College and business in Wharton. She previously went to 7 different schools in Vancouver, Shanghai, and Sydney before coming to Penn. She started her involvement with AIS as Freshman Rep and hopes to engage a larger audience at Penn (not everyone has to be international to join!) If Anny isn’t replying your message, you can probably find her in her natural habitat — napping in bed or finding food to eat. She is really excited for what AIS has planned for the year, so stay tuned and come join us! If you also want to get to know the club more, have any suggestions, or just want to chat, feel free to get some food with her anytime.

Vice-President of Finances: Michael Karam (vpfinances@aisupenn.org)

Michael is a junior in the College studying International Relations and Economics. He was born in Massachusetts, went to preschool in Egypt, and moved to Lebanon when he was five. Besides reading French classics, Arabic poetry, and English mystery novels, he also likes to draw, paint, and swing dance. His involvement in AIS started with the International Mentorship and Orientation Committee, and he’s really excited to be VP Finances for the upcoming year! Outside of AIS, Michael is in UMC, IAA, UA, and West Philly Swingers. Welcome to Penn, and feel free to reach out! AIS Love

Vice-President of Communications: Fazaa Ahmed (vpcom@aisupenn.org)

Fazaa is a senior in the College studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics with a minor in South Asian Studies. Fazaa has had a very international upbringing, for although her family is Pakistani, she grew up in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and more recently lives in Canada. Fazaa has always been interested in international culture, and as a result has performed numerous times for the Arabic Choir at Penn! Outside of AIS, Fazaa is also involved in Penn Check One, Penn’s first mixed-heritage group. Fazaa can’t wait for all the exciting events that AIS has planned for this year and to meet new members, feel free to reach out to her with any questions or just to say hi!

Vice-President of Marketing: Chikezie Wood (vpmarketing@aisupenn.org)

Chikezie is a senior in the College studying Sociology who has a passion for all things German! He learnt German here at Penn, and since Freshman year he has been very involved with german language and culture on campus and in Philadelphia. Chikezie grew up in Trinidad and Tobago in the hot, sunny Caribbean, and brings his warm, engaging personality in everything he does. On campus he is involved with the Polybian Society, The Penn German Club, The Government and Politics Association, and the community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. In his free time he enjoys food, photography and reading Nietzsche, in German of course. Feel free to reach out anytime to chat, ask questions, or grab coffee!

Alumni and Employment Committee Chair: Maaya Murakami (ae@aisupenn.org)

Maaya is a junior in the College majoring in International Relations and Economics and minoring in French. She is from Tokyo, where she spent half of her life, but she went to elementary school in the Netherlands and middle school in Germany. In her free time, she enjoys playing the violin and tennis. At Penn, she is also involved in Penn Symphony Orchestra and Rotaract Club. As the chair for A&E committee, Maaya is excited to organize events that connect current students with alumni. She looks forward to meeting you all soon!

Ishita is a junior in the College majoring in Economics and Computer Science. She is from New Delhi, India. An animal lover, she makes it a point to say hello to every dog in her vicinity. She also likes to read. As IMO Chair, Ishita hopes to make it easier (and more fun!) for international students to transition into life in the US. Hailing from Hong Kong, the metropolis of skyscrapers and humid weather, Wesley is a freshman in the College majoring in Philosophy, Political Science and Economics. Wesley is passionate in all things social-impact-related and is a part of PennOrb, a sustainability technology start-up, PennSEM and MoneyThink. Wesley is also an (aspiring) polyglot who speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, French and his next goal is to master Japanese. In his free time, Wesley enjoys taking hipster photographs, DJing for WQHS radio and eating Japanese food. As Social Chair, Wesley hopes to spice up the stressful college life for international students. So if you have any suggestions for events, feel free to contact him!

Dhruv Agarwal (ilincchair@aisupenn.org)

Dhruv is a freshman in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences majoring in Computer Science. Originally from India, Dhruv attended high school in Nairobi, Kenya and has traveled to over 50 cities in 18 countries spanning 5 continents. He loves to meet new people and understand new cultures! Outside of ILINC and AIS, Dhruv is also a member of the PennApps organizing committee, the Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club and the Weiss Tech House. When not helping plan the best ILINC ever, Dhruv can be found either binge watching House of Cards, building the next big mobile app or taking photographs around campus. He couldn’t be more excited to meet you at this year’s ILINC!
